Photographic Evening - 27 June @ 20:00 - by invitation only
Brief:
In an age of thoughtless point-and-shoot and selfies, the evening's "focus" is on formally staged "portraits".
We are all awkward and self-conscious to be photographed, but this is an opportunity to overcome that and give a window into some aspect of yourself.
- Every guest must be photographed by two other guests, picked at random
- Each pair (photographer and model) will agree the composition and staging and the photographer will direct the model to extract the essence of the composition from the model
- Each pair must choose and submit the two best photos
- Photos should be upper body / face / shoulder images
- Poses may be serious, playful, acting, include costumes / props / make-up etc. but must not predominantly obscure the face
- No phone/computer post-processing - everything must happen in-camera
Exceptions are: Setting digital cameras to black-and-white
Multiple exposures, blur, zoom effects etc. are all acceptable as long as the final shot happens in the camera
- The best photo of each model will be selected by the group and included in a photo book
- The winning photo will be selected by the curator and will feature on the cover of the book
- The model and photographer of the winning photo will each get a printed book as prize
The most important thing however, is to have fun!
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
